The most important things to remember is that applications letters should be original and they should represent you. The only person who can represent you is you. Why would you want to take an application letter written by someone who does not even know you? Only you know why you would be perfect for that one job. Why trust a generic letter to get that point across to the employer? If you are looking for a job chances are you are probably looking out also for ways to amplify your cover letter and resume. One of the popular ways of doing this is by looking for a resume and cover letter sample to guide you with it.
Make a good first impression and leave no minor details hanging or erroneous. The content of your covering letter must be meaty and at the same time concise. The covering letter sample must not be overflowing with details. But you must provide enough that the person reading it will want to know you more with it. Selectively pick the details in your resume that you consider to be worth highlighting and put them in your covering letter as a way of introducing yourself. Limit yourself to a single page and do not go beyond that. Few people would really take the time to reach page two.
You risk running into that situation if you use a sample covering letter that is not your own. The key point in writing a good covering letter is to stay focused on the end result of getting an interview. You should not be afraid of asking for that interview. Do not do what a majority of job hunters today do and that is hope and wait you get a call after your resume is read. You will probably be waiting a long time. You want to make sure there is no doubt that you will get called for an interview. Start off by addressing your letter to a specific person.
