Saying the wrong thing can cause a great deal of pain and grief for a loved one that is already suffering. If you have never written a condolence letter before a good way to start may be to look for a sample condolence letter that can help you to understand the format and the tone that your letter should take. One thing you should never do is to take the sample letter and simply sign your name to it that is the worst thing possible since the person will know that the letter is a generic letter and without putting a personal touch on it it will seem more callous and cold than it will sympathetic or supportive.
A brief paragraph extolling the virtues of and sharing the highlights of the deceased s life is a good way to end the condolence letter you will want to once again express your sorrow at his passing as well as your compassion and understanding for the family whose loss it is. Then finally a short sentence to let them know that if there is anything you can do to help or if they need anything to let you know finish the letter. Sign it with your name and it is ready to be mailed to the person to whom it was addressed. A sample condolence letter can help you to come up with the right words phrase everything right and keep your letter from sounding so awkward or generic.
